Global File Locking

Supports Both Windows and MAC OS systems for the as-required access to both private as well as public cloud storage.

Why Us?

You know what, to overcome multiple issues while multiple users are working on the same file, NFC Vault had made the strategy of global file locking. Apart from that, one of the main beneficial things for this is to maintain complete data consistency.

File Locking Does Not Work Globally

When the client is thinking to unlock a particular file, then he needs to make sure that he is going in the right direction such as double-clicking to open the file, reading the terms and conditions, must have permission to view the file, and multiple other things. Once all these things are done, the user can be able to open the file, and only because of this reason, virtual drive mapping is needed who already know that the user is trying to open the file.

A Rescue to Virtual Drive Mapping

While we are working on a corporate file server network, it is necessary to use a mapped drive. All because when a person in an employee has edited the file and another employee opened it then the explorer will notify that the file is been locked.

Closure to Global File Locking and Virtual Drive Mapping

Some important features of drive mapping and file locking are going to be discussed further as file locking is to be at the first of the lock drive.

Remote Drive Mapping

NFC vault works on drive mapping that can be accessed to the files and folders and there will not be any use of a VPN connection.

Anytime Access

Data can be accessed easily to access the remote files when Windows Explorer or Mac OS is utilized.

Lock Automatically

Only one user at a time can edit the file and it is been locked at that time. Once editing is done by his end, then the file will automatically be unlocked.

Lock Management

To make the file safe and secure, the server is able to manage the locking and unlocking of the file.

Distributed File Locking

Works on concurrent accessing of the files that maintain the data consistency.

Configure Access

Clients need to understand the locking behavior in the server environment. When a user is working on the file, the file is locked and no one can continue with it. When the task is done, then the file is shared and the user can access it.

Collaborate Consistently

Multiple users can work on the same file present on the server without thinking of any kind of corruption.

Challenges While Using Global File Locking

In a local area network, it is possible to understand the complete file locking concept. We need to understand that if one user is working on the file, at that time, the file is completely locked and no one can work on it. And, the proper intent will be shown to other employees so that no one can try to unlock the file. This maintains the data consistency throughout the platform.

However, in the modern days, there is an offline mode present on the server, when clients are accessing their files online and over the Internet. Employees can work on the file offline, can close the laptop connection and move to the airport mode, and come back to make changes in the file.

How Offline File Editing Can Be Done?

Sometimes, it may happen that users need to evaluate and edit the files without internet connectivity, at that time, we need to focus on some things:

Login and Logout Manually

Just tapping on a particular file will allow you to manage the check-in and checkout with any kind of a particular duration renewal.

Version Control

Modifications done with files are kept as an old correction as they can be needed anytime in the future.

Issue Detection

When a client does some modifications and goes offline, at that time the server will store the previous data for future comparison.
