Two stories about file sharing among companies 

                    A geomodeling company needs to share seismic data with external customers and receive data from customers. The geomodeling data currently resides on an enterprise file server that is organized by projects. Each project folder is protected by folder permissions included with the Windows file server. The current practice of external file sharing requires that data be uploaded to Box and shared. Once customers receive the shared data and upload their portion of the files, an employee copies the files from the Box account back to the company's file server. All files are under tight enterprise control with Active Directory and group policies, except for the portion that must go through Box by manually copying back and forth. The enterprise needs an external file sharing solution that integrates directly with existing file servers and the protective infrastructure of IT.
                    

                    

                    Another story involves a television station that sends reporters on location to capture video and photos sent back to the company for use by news content producers. The on-site reporters are often stationed in areas with poor Internet access, making it difficult to upload information for live coverage quickly. The company used Citrix ShareFile for one of the reasons listed above. Citrix ShareFile does not allow external file access or file sharing directly from file servers, so the workflow changed. Citrix offered specific cloud locations to which on-site reporters could upload content that the organization needed. IT had to manually copy the content from Citrix cloud storage to its file servers so that internal content creators could access it and prepare it for reporting. With Citrix ShareFile, the TV station also needed to upload files to these dedicated storage locations to share with external business partners and view and edit via a browser or mobile device. This transition from internal storage solutions to purely cloud-based storage services for external file access, sharing, and collaboration resulted in data loss and higher costs
